What time do the classes meet?
All classes start at 6 p.m. and go until 8 p.m. with the exception of PLACE, which concludes at 7:30 p.m.
How long do the studies last?
All classes last six weeks with the exception of Real Life Discipleship (RLD), which is 12 weeks. This means that if you register for RLD it will be the only class you can take for that semester. Otherwise, you can take two, six-week classes per semester.
How much does it cost?
All classes have a flat registration fee of $15 to cover books and materials.
Are there any other classes offered on Wednesday night besides the Timothy Initiative?
No. The Timothy Initiative is our discipleship strategy. We believe that it is the most important aspect of our church responsibility. That is, we are called to equip disciples who are able to develop others as disciples.
What about Tuesday morning or Wednesday morning classes? Does the Timothy Initiative replace those too?
No. These classes will still be available on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
What if I have to miss one or two weeks of class?
Since all the classes except RLD run just six (6) weeks, it will be difficult to complete the class if you miss more than two meetings. We are working on a way to provide an overview of the material from each week to help catch up those who must miss a class. We would also recommend that you partner with a classmate to secure notes from the day(s) you miss.
How long will it take to complete all of the courses in the Timothy Initiative?
If you take all the classes that you can during each semester, then you will be able to complete the entire plan within three years.
What happens when I complete the Timothy Initiative?
We will host a special commencement /commissioning service for those who complete all the course offerings. Your completion will be noted in the church database and will be used as a tool for selecting leadership in all the ministry areas of the church. More importantly, you will be equipped even after the first semester to begin applying what you have learned so that you can move forward in the process of duplicating yourself as a disciple of Jesus Christ.
What if I want to teach a class in the Timothy Initiative?
Part of the strategy of the Timothy Initiative is the Timothy-Paul apprentice relationship. Every Timothy Initiative teacher will have an apprentice teacher who will become equipped to teach the class the following semester. Apprentices are selected based on a number of criteria including: spiritual maturity, ability to teach in a classroom setting, and grasp of materials and concepts. You may contact any of the adult education team members for more information.
