GROUP THERAPY

One effective way to get help for emotional problems is to take advantage of group therapy. Group therapy brings together people who are suffering from the same problem and allows participants to gain insight and help from both the mental health professional conducting the group and other participants. It can be extremely useful for people to share their stories and discover that they're not the only ones to suffer from that particular problem. There are groups for people with eating disorders, phobias, victims of abuse, and for those who struggle with many other issues. While individual therapy is effective, often a therapist will recommend that a patient join a group to enhance his or her individual work and to make greater strides toward mental wellness.

For more information on group therapy, consult your health care professional or contact the BABBCENTER at 824.3772 or 800.458.1755 for a list of groups that meet in the Middle Tennessee area.
